After Absolution: Day One of My Year of Renewal

I've just come back from a lovely trip to the Isle of Wight. It has been a time of rest and recalibration, but while I was there I also decided to take a year for myself to hit the reset button. Face my weight and bring it down, get into better routines, work through my to do list ... everything.
I saw a priest this morning before I left, and had a discussion with him along these lines. He said that a large part of this is about forgiving myself. I think that's true, and I think part of that forgiveness will come through monitoring my progress, celebrating the highs and acknowledging and moving on from the lows.
I have booked in another trip, the weekend of 8th May 2027, to go back and talk to the same person, and see how far I have come.
The picture I have included here is a piece of artwork that I made a few years ago. It has personal meaning to me about my mental health journey - I might add some more detail about that in the future.

But now, time for sleep, to begin that journey of renewal tomorrow! Here's to the next year!
